If biking alongside glistening streams through idyllic mountain settings is something that awakens interest, we recommend riding the old Trondheim Postal Road from Harpefossen into Hjelmelandsdalen. The trail encompasses both gravel forest tracks and easier rides on roads.
After about 4 km there is a crossroad. If you want a longer excursion, you can stay on the old postal route all the way to towards the Bjørkedalen. This is a more demanding route up to the apex with some 300 meters of descent into the valley thereafter - on the route you will cross the county boundaries between Sogn og Fjordane and Møre og Romsdal. If you chose to return the way you came the route runs a total length of 20 km.
Those who would prefer a easier ride can opt to ride onwards to Tippasetra (moutain farm). Here the terrain varies between forest road and track and after another 4 km you'll find yourself back at Harpefossen.
It's possible to rent offroad bikes with helmet on Harpefossen. Prices are:
- Per hour NOK 50,-
- Half day NOK 150,- (4 hours)
- One day NOK 250,-
We have 8 bikes of type Gekko Flow in these sizes (no. of. in brackets): 14'' (1), 16'' (2), 18'' (2), 20'' (2) and 21'' (1).
